State Rally Deadline Extended
Please note that the dealine for registering for the 2012 JCCT State Rally has been extended to 5th February. It was realised that may people would be away until quite near the previous deadline, and may not get them selves organised in time.

Please also note that the Rally Entry forms enclosed in the December issue of Jaguar Torque contained an incorrect BSB number, for those intending to pay via Direct Deposit. This has been corrected in the online form available here. (PDF document, Acrobat Reader required.) Just for reference, the correct BSB number is 633 000.
We Go Mobile!
The club website is now mobile-friendly, with a major revamp of the site to make it more accessible on mobile devices such as smartphones.

There's no special address; just go to the usual website address, and if you're accessing it on a mobile device, you should see a simplified, cleaner display that makes reading and navigation much easier.

Jaguar C-X16 Revealed
Jaguar has released details of the C-X16 concept ahead of its world debut at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show.

Looking firmly to the future, the C-X16 marks a new chapter for Jaguar. The two-seater concept has inspired new advances in design, in engineering and in vehicle technology to create the most compact and responsive Jaguar in a generation. A hybrid, the C-X16 combines searing performance with beautifully realised styling. The Jaguar C-X16

Adrian Hallmark, Global Brand Director, Jaguar Cars:"The C-X16 embodies the established Jaguar strengths of sensual design, animal-like agility and inspirational performance and combines these with attributes that set us on a course to create sustainable sports cars of the future."

2012 National Rally Announced
The Jaguar Car Club of WA (JCCWA) will be hosting the Jaguar National Rally in 2012. The Rally Program runs from April 26-29th 2012 with the post rally tour taking place in the week thereafter.

Please note that these dates are not during Easter. The JCCWA has chosen to avoid coinciding with Easter, which is always a time of the year when accommodation is at a premium and venues very busy.

You can access the official 2012 National Rally website at www.jaguarnationalrally2012.com.au

Special Interest Vehicle Log Books
I was pulled over on my return trip from Scamander by the local Orford police and asked to produce my Log Book. Luckily I had included the trip in the book but not correctly.

According to the policeman, we are required to complete an entry each and every day. This is to ensure they can work out just how many days use the car has had over a twelve month period. The fine for incomplete entry is $150.00.

I apologised a number of times for my misunderstanding and luckily, he let me off with a warning.

Please note the law is clamping down so fill the Log Book in before you leave and then at the completion of each trip.

Following Geoff Henry's untimely death, club members should note that all of Geoff's stock from this business has been sold to Gold Star Automotive in Launceston. Please contact Paul Gill for any items that you would have previously obtained from Jagro.

2011 National Rally Results
The 2001 Jaguar national Rally has been run and won in Canberra at Easter, and I'm pleased to say that Tasmanian members fared very well.

Rod Force, Ian Cummins and Edward Newton won the JCCT Team Sporting Trophy for the best three road-registered club cars, and Chris Edwards and Lee Hudson both won silver in the Concours d'Etat class. But Rod Force scooped the pool, winning gold in Concours d'Elegance, as well as trophies for best sports car in d'Elegance and best combined score in d'Elegance and sporting events. Our heartiest congratulations to all the winners.

You can find the full details of results on the official 2011 Rally website here,
and more photographs in the Galleries.

Vale Geoff HenryGeoff Henry
Most member will by now have heard of the sad death of JCCT member Geoff Henry. Geoff died suddenly on March 16, after a prolonged spell of illness.

Geoff and his partner Tony joined the club in 1994, after purchasing a Carriage Brown 1978 XJ6 Series II. They quickly became regulars at all northern events, and many southern ones as well, and Geoff's easy-going and friendly manner meant he made friends easily wherever he went.

He established himself as something of a Jaguar guru, avidly reading and absorbing every book on the subject he could lay his hands on. His prodigious memory for Jaguar facts and figures meant that he was often sought out for clarifying or explaining some subtle detail of various models.

Geoff spent several years serving as the club's Northern Chairman, a position he held with considerable gusto. He would regularly seek out prospective members and invite them along to an event by way of an introduction to the club, and as a result often converted them into members. He would take the trouble to ring likely members before upcoming events to ensure they came along, and as a result the club boasted some impressive turnouts to many events.

Geoff will be sadly missed in the club. He was an all-round 'good bloke' who everyone seemed to like, and his affable and friendly nature meant that he leaves many good friends behind. He is survived by his partner Tony, his sister Jill, and Jill's children and grandchildren.

Warning to Jaguar Owners
Police have advised small groups of car thieves are targeting certain types of luxury cars as a badge of honour; hence the sad story of our S-type. We believe the perpetrators were checking out our property prior to us going out for dinner, this is evidenced by empty flavoured milk cartons left near the milk trucks.

We believe they gained access over the roof on the first level and entered the house through an open window upstairs, with the sole purpose of finding car keys, having already broken the window to the garage and checking out the cars in the garage. They opened a jewel box but thankfully left all the jewellery, went downstairs and took our mobile phones, found the keys and left the house. They then went back to the garage, cutting themselves on the broken glass which they subsequently splattered all over the new XR6 Falcon Ute, great DNA for the police though, pushed the Ute out of the garage into the backyard to gain access to the S type V8 Jaguar, to begin their high speed joy ride for some 2 hours.

Police gave chase in Moonah and they were clocked at speeds of over 100 km through red lights on the wrong side of the road, narrowly missing innocent drivers, eventually police were forced to abandon the chase as our laws do not allow this except in case of matters of life and death.

The car was eventually abandoned at Glenorchy Reserve and set alight, a very sad way for such a pristine, beautiful, much loved vehicle to end it's days. Never underestimate these people, always ensure you have your alarm system on (we didn't), they are out there watching constantly.

The police have been fantastic and we cannot speak more highly of their support.
