A Jaguar July Jaunt
Des & I were invited to join the Queensland Sunshine Coast Register on a Jaguar July Jaunt on Sunday 17th July along with our hosts for the week, Allan & Jeanette McKenzie.
We awoke anxious to see what sort of day was dawning as the last 2 days had been raining, Queensland style. Fortunately the skies looked clear and it looked like we were going to experience a typical Sunshine Coast day of brilliant sunshine.
We headed out in Allan's XJ8, which he has moved to their Noosa holiday home for use when they are residing there, to meet with the other members of the Register at the designated spot at Landsborough to meet and greet. After about 45mins it was decided to proceed up the hills and along the ridge to our luncheon venue at Flaxton passing through the very popular village of Montville.
Le Relais Bressan, an authentic French Restaurant, owned by a like-minded car enthusiast was our destination. What a sight to behold as approx 20+ Jaguars were ushered into the grounds to provide a display for the many travellers who pass over this route during a Sunday drive.
The owners DS420 was already placed for viewing along with others in a front room of the Restaurant which included a Morgan, Citroen, Renault Floride and Renault Dorphine and this was all before we had even sat down to eat.
This is obviously a very popular venue for weekend luncheons, as the place was packed, but a separate room was reserved for our party overlooking the "Car" room and carpark.
Not only was the 3 course Menu with choices for $27.50 p/p very enjoyable, but also the comradeship conveyed by the members of the Sunshine Coast Register was most welcoming.
Our thanks to Ian & Vicki McKinney, who were the organisers of the event, for inviting us to join them and also Allan & Jeanette for letting us accompany them in their beautiful Jaguar
