Firstly we must thank Barry and Athalie Wiggins for once again opening up their home for our Southern BBQ. They have their home up for sale, and the agents wanted an open home inspection for the 20th, but Barry and Athalie said "no".
So thank you also for this sacrifice, which allowed our club members to enjoy a Christmas get-together. The weather was perfect, as we sat around their large BBQ area next to their lovely pool, which was very inviting, but apart from Geoff Cuthbert's children, only Jenni Appleby took the plunge.
Barry had cooked the meat on the spit, and members provided the rest of the salad and sweet items, all coming together for one very sumptuous luncheon, and enjoyed by everyone. 32 members and their family's turned up to enjoy the day.
It was good to see Rod and Anne Force there especially after their horror year health wise, with Rod looking a bit sore still. However, in his role as our President, he gave his Christmas speech, culminating in Christmas and New Year wishes for all members both North and South.
A presentation was also made to Geoff Cuthbert, and was to do with the recent National Rally.
Unfortunately Geoff was not available at the presentation during the Rally to receive his award and this has been the first opportunity since then that Geoff has been available. Geoff won a Silver Award at the Concours for both the National and State Rallies, hence the 2 awards.
Des Wighton in his last official role as President of the JCCT at the time of the Rally did the honours of presenting Geoff with his awards - congratulations Geoff (you can officially retire now Des, although you seem to be doing as much work now as Vice President as you did when you were President).
An 18 litre cooler pack for the car (or caravan) was our prize for the day, which was drawn around 3pm, and won by Allan McKenzie - congratulations Allan.
Another excellent end of year function for the club, with changes in the wind for the 2010 Christmas BBQ, so please read 'Club Torque" to see what that is all about...
