Once cooled, he managed to limp the car home, and came to Orford in the family stand by. Finally, Des Wighton and Jenni Appleby in their XJS, had a low water light come on by the time they got to Richmond. A 'cuppa' while the engine cooled down found that the radiator cap was not on properly, hence loss of that precious resource that we pay so much for these days. Topped up the tank and all was well from then on.
So apart from those incidents, the day was superb, weather wise and display wise, with 70+ vehicles of all makes and models on the lawns out side of the Blue Waters Hotel at Orford. The JCCT had 9 1/2 cars on display (gave Tony Prins 1/2 point for at least an attempt to turn up in his E-Type, getting 1/2 way).
The lunch was excellent, with a long queue initially for ordering. The staff were rushed off their feet. We did notice a couple of meals that had lost their owners, with the waitress going around and round, in and out of the kitchen, checking and rechecking, but eventually the meal did arrive at the correct table for the hungry patrons. The Hotel had a live band playing and prizes galore were handed out, with the JCCT taking 6 over all, well done those lucky few.
