Shannons 'Show and Shine'

Sunday, March 14, 2010

After many years of arriving very early in the morning and assisting Shannons to set up, and then guiding the various makes and models of cars into their respective areas, the JCCT members were able to relax this year, as the Ford club has taken over these duties for the day, and what a beautifully hot day it was. After the dust bowl, under the trees of previous years, the JCCT had been moved to a more suitable grassed area, which was definitely greatly appreciated by all.

18 Jaguars and their proud owners attended, and it was great to see a few Northern members also, that had come down for the weekend. This event turned out to be one of the biggest ever, with Shannons Rod Belbin having to judge 720 vehicles and motorbikes, a very impressive display indeed.

As usual, all the cars and motorbikes were categorised into decades, and our very own Rod Force won "Best Car" (XK8) for the 90's category - congratulations Rod.

The club gazebo was set up for the day with Regalia officer Marilyn busy selling goods to the public, and had the left over National Rally Regalia on display to clear stocks. This Marilyn is doing quite effectively, with only shirts left. The general interest in Jaguars was evident in the number of people that approached our gazebo to seek information and ask questions in general, with 5 'New Member' applications handed out, so hopefully some new members and faces to our fine club.

By 3 pm, everything was winding down, so the packing up started after a very pleasant day, shared with members and the public alike. Time to take the cars back home and lock them away safely once again. With an hour or so to unwind, shower change and head back out to the Shoreline Tavern, where 28 of us attended the farewell dinner for Barry & Athalie Wiggins. Once again, a great club day out enjoyed by all.
